Let's preheat the oven!
In an interesting turn of events there are two new food options coming to Six Flags Discovery Kingdom this year. These are not announced publicly, but are explained when in the park through new promotional signs and construction.
Something sweet.
In the former building that use to house Gifts from Under the Sea will welcome Coaster Candy, a brightly colored candy confectionery offering sweets as far as the eye can see. From taffy and brand name sweets to custom mixes and fresh fudge, Coaster Candy will excite your taste buds in this new high sensory wild experience.
My only question is if the building will be expanded to accommodate for more offerings. There is no set date for opening.
In addition the new location will only be a sub-sized version of the larger moniker Coaster Candy Company, a name given to shops with a live candy making viewing area which I don't think this will have.

The sign placed out front announcing this exciting new addition.
The front side of the building likely to have a nice shiny new sign. I wonder if this building will also get a new colorful paint job to match.
Here's the side of the building, part of which use to be the photo booth for the Dolphin Discovery experience the park (use to?) offers. That was removed and turned into an extension of this little gift shop. Hopefully those white framed windows will get great little displays to show their offerings. Perhaps maybe it will even be a location to watch candy-making although, like I mentioned the 'Company' part of the name is missing making me think it won't have that.
Big Belly Burger!!!¡¡¡
After a sudden demolition of the snack bar and regular bar next to V2, we finally know what will become of this quite sizable plot: the fictional burger joint from DC Comics. A joint where a certain super-fast super-hero frequents...
Now when I first saw this I thought: oh this is a nice little generic burger restaurant with a pretty good name. It'll only be a matter of time before they retheme it to something from DC Comics.
From that alone you can tell how little I know about the DC Comics Universe. That aside I was told that was actually a DC restaurant. After a bit of research I found that it's actually a subsidiary of LexCorp. Neat.

But I also found out that there's a certain superhero that stops by this joint to fill up after a run: The Flash... And then it clicked.
1) Hooray, we finally have a DC restaurant!
2) The Flash! (plus Lex Luthor) Which could only mean one thing (two things, but mostly one)! We'll be likely seeing the addition of a The Flash themed attraction in the near future nearby... Now what ride nearby this location has really high speeds that take off just like The Flash that has been out of place??? Why V2 of course! Could this mean V2 will become the Flash very soon to fill that hole of having a Big Belly Burger? I definitely think so.
3) Six Flags is looking to add a record breaking ride to SFMM in 2019 which also means that the ride will be budget breaking as well. In order to have that there needs to be some compromise...
In the past when a large ride is added or multiple high profile ones (like in 2016) have been announced there is always some sort of addition or attraction (ride or not) that you can tell is designed to be cheap to subsidize the higher cost additions. This can be an event such as Mardi Gras, smaller waterpark addition, or painting a ride and giving it a new name like with The New Revolution (now back to the old Revolution) that is designed to allow for them to save capital for a larger addition to a flagship park like SFMM.
In addition, this is something CGA did just last year converting Vortex to Patriot (although it was more than paint because it went from stand-up to floorless) and it showed that something like this could hold onto guests' attention just long enough to when CGA announced Railblazer (an RMC Raptor) the following year.

Here's a rough idea/concept of what I'm thinking. Please excuse the terrible Photo Shopping...
As you can see, pretty much nothing remains of the old building, foundations and all. While this may mean a longer wait it makes me very excited for what is to come. It allows for the park to have complete control of what the new Big Belly Burger will look like, how much space it will take up and what kind of style we can expect (counter or sit-down). Plus since this is a DC restaurant I'd imagine DC will want a lot of control of what the final product will look like and if any additions they've been in charge of in the past have shown anything, it's that they care about their appearance very much since it is their intellectual property. While the end result will likely be simplistic I think that would be beneficial since it's suppose to be a cartoon.
